Tutu & Fairy Wings

Today, my girls went to friend's birthday party and, of course, they needed a present.  Rather than buy something at the store I figured I would make something.  So yesterday evening I spent my time sewing up a tutu and a pair of felt wings.  I made the tutu just like the ones I made for my girls last week but instead of doing it just one color I used two: hot pink and baby pink.

The top layer is all hot pink.  The middle layer is one layer of hot pink and one layer of baby pink and the bottom layer is all baby pink.  I really like the multiple color look but I think maybe I should have done it reverse so the baby pink wasn't so transparent.  I also made a pair of felt butterfly/fairy wings.

I saw a pair of felt wings Etsy and was inspired so I thought I would give it a shot.  I pretty happy with how they turned out.  They are definitely something I will have to revisit to try and better them.  I think I would like to sew the detail pieces down rather than glue them.  Also (you can't see it in the picture) I think I need to cover the elastics that go over the arms in fabric so they look a little cuter.  I think they are also a little too floppy so I need to use a thicker stabilizer or have some sort of support in the upper wing.I definitely hope to revisit these and make them again!  They were a big hit with the birthday girl though!  She liked that they were a little floppy, it was like she was flying!
