Alyssa's April Onesie

For Alyssa's April onesie Stephanie wanted something with a bunny for Easter.  I found this bunny frame design and she loved it so that's what we went with originally she wanted purple and white but we couldn't find a feminine white onesie/bodysuit to save our lives so we changed it to pink and white.  She let me choose the fabrics and went with a pink and white polka dot to keep with the pink and white theme.

I just think it turned out super duper adorable!!  The wording is a bit hard to read but I think it's growing on me and I like it.  As if the front isn't cute enough.....

.... I added this cute little bunny tail to the bum.  I think this is just going to look so cute sticking out from under the tutu Stephanie makes her every month!

Wild Olive's Stitch Swap Finished Project

I guess I inspired myself because I finished my project for Wild Olive's Stitch Swap!

I really love how it turned out!  I just love this design so much!  I had to edit it a bit to fit in a smaller frame but I think I still captured the essence of the design.  I think I'm going to do this one again, but larger and different colors, for my girl's room.  I had to buy a fat quarter of fabric to get the look that I wanted for the dress and because I had so much leftover I decided to stitch up a little sewing kit
(tutorial by Lots of Pink Here) for my stitch swap buddy as well.

It turned out super cute as well!  I think I'll have to make one for myself.  The fabric is not as blue as it photographed (it's more aqua) but I couldn't for the life of me get it to look right!

I just really love how the whole project turned out and I can't wait to ship it off to my buddy!

Wild Olive's Stitch Swap Start

A little while ago I joined Wild Olive's Stitch Swap and I finally got all my supplies together so I can get started!  Here's a little sneak peak of what I'll be using.

I know I'm running a bit late since I need to have it in the mail by the last day of the month but I haven't received mine yet either so I figure I must not be too behind compared to everyone else.  I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it finished in time!

February Cottage of the Month

I finally got my February Cottage of the Month done!  (Now that it's almost the end of March, yikes!)  I had it most of the way done but then I lost steam.  I finished it up last night and as you will see I made a lot of changes in fact I'm not sure if I kept anything the same other than the design.

I stitched it on white 14 count Aida cloth and used the following DMC embroidery floss colors:  brown/3031, green/3011, blue/3766, reds/816, 3831, pinks/601, 603, 605.  I really like the way it turned out because it very much matches my February decor.  Since I have already put away my February stuff, I didn't bother putting it in the frame and just put it away to use next year.  After I finished up the February Cottage, I gathered up all the supplies for the March cottage!

I'm stitching March on a Natural colored Aida cloth.  I did change a few of the floss colors this time too.  I changed the Pale Yellow to DMC 3823 and I didn't want to use the Geranium color because I wanted more Yellow in the design so I changed it to DMC 3822.  I also chose a little bit of a darker brown for the Pecan color and went with DMC 433.  I'm really excited about getting March done and if I hurry and get it done before the end of the month then I'll be back on track!

Happy St Patrick's Day

Okay, I'm a day late but yesterday was super duper busy! We went to a local airshow and had a BBQ to celebrate my husband's birthday (which is actually today, not yesterday.) Just like last year, I made the girl's some cute St. Patrick's Day outfits. This year I went a little less traditional, I didn't really use St. Patrick's Day as a theme as much as I just incorporated quite a bit of green into their outfits.

For Kaitlin, I made a skirt using this tutorial.  I embroidered the butterfly on a t-shirt.  I also made some fun butterfly hair clips for her.

For Isabella, I made a ruffle skirt using this pattern.  I made a frayed flower to put on her t-shirt, which I also had to shorten a bit because it was way too long.  I made her some butterfly hair clips as well.

I also made myself a little frayed flower clip so that I would have a little something to match my girls.

I just love how all of it turned out but Isabella's skirt just takes the cake for me!  I'm definitely going to have to make her a few more of these adorable ruffle skirts for summer!  I guess it's a good thing that she loves skirts and loves ruffles!

Pillow Exchange Pillows: February & March

I got so incredibly behind in February, but it looks like March is starting to catch me up a bit!  I finally got my pillow exchange pillows for my friend, Stephanie, done for both February and March.  (I'm also about half done with April so that should be coming soon!)

First up is February,  I kept it pretty simple and stuck with her color scheme of red, black and white.  I knew she already had a lot of Valentine word art in the form of other pillows, so I just did a framed heart for the pillow. I also put some rhinestones on some of the white dimonds to give it a little more interest. I signed it on the back with a stitched signature.  I really love the way this pillow turned out and would have totally used it in my own house (given a different color scheme.)

Next, we have the March pillow.  When I asked her what she wanted for March she said she wanted a definition of the Irish ancestry of their last name: Hayes.  I found this fabric and my local JoAnns that looked less St Patrick's Day and more Irish to me, so that's what I used for my color scheme.  I really love how I did the button top closure on this one and I think I'll have to do it for more pillows.  I had to add a few gold-ish rhinestones because that seems to be becoming a thing for me.  Of course I finished up the back with a stitched signature!

After I finished this pillow up, I realized I should have moved the the Hayes and definition part down and centered it more but by the point I realized that, it was already way too late.  Oh, well!  I also had a little helper with the March Pillow...

... isn't Phantom just so helpful?  Okay, maybe not but he sure is cute!

Alyssa's March Onesie

It's March, so that means it's time for another onesie for Alyssa!  We had a hard time finding a St. Patrick's Day design that we loved until we ran across this cute set that had fairies in it!  I think it turned out pretty cute.  I prefer to use applique designs on knit shirts/onesies but this one was just too cute.

Unicorn Embroidered Shirt

My niece, Aubrey, turns 4 years old today.  I wish we could be with her to help her celebrate but, unfortunately, they just moved to Virgina and that's a little too far for us to go.  So, here's the package I put in the mail for her.

A little bit of everything: a unicorn shirt (which I did the embroidery on), a felt stacked star hair clip (also made by me), a ring pop, a unicorn My Little Pony, and a unicorn My Little Pony card.  Can you tell she's into unicorns?  The unicorn embroidery design is from Bunnycup Embroidery and it was Free!  The star hair clip is from GG Designs Embroidery and I've been wanting to try their adorable felt hair clips for a long time so I was really excited to finally have the excuse to buy one.  I just love how quick easy and fun it was to stitch up!  I see much more of these in my future!

I hope she enjoys her birthday package!  Happy 4th Birthday, Aubrey!
